Summary Reflection Of My Learning

What was the biggest learning for you?
I think the biggest learning for me was working with a partner. That is because I had to learn how to communicate and also work well. Another part of working with a partner is scheduling times to go to each others houses and practice.

What do you now know that you didn't know before about space?
The biggest thing I learned about space is that there is a new planet like Earth called Planet X. I learned that the sun is very small compared to a red giant. The size comparison between the two are like Earth and Jupiter. Another thing I learned is we can only see the planets on our side of the asteroid belt with the naked eye. Also if you see one dot in the sky it could be billions of stars.

What do you now know that you didn't know about your planet?
Saturn's rings are made of rocks and ice. Another fact about Saturn is it can not be seen with the naked eye. That is because it is on the other side of the asteroid belt.

Bill Nye Paragraph

What I learned from the Bill Nye video are, there are a lot of different things in space. There are places beyond our solar system. Everything in space is made out of the same things as us atoms! Atoms are little things that make up big structures.  Have you ever heard anyone use the term light years? Light years are 9.5 trillion earth years and that is a long time! Something cool about light years is if a star ever burns out the light will still come towards us because it is still coming towards us. The light will eventually burn a few years after the star explodes.
Another thing I learned is that planets are not as close as they look. If you look from a telescope they look really close but in reality they are 100 millions of miles away. A few things I learned from the Bill Nye video are the big red spot on Jupiter is as big as Earth! I also learned that Polaris will not always be our North Star. In 12000 years it will be a star called Vega. That will happen because the Earth will move so Polaris will move out of our sight. I want to tell you an awesome fact. Did you know that sometimes one dot in the sky is actually more than a billion stars! That is so cool! Another cool fun fact is it takes 4.5 light years from the closest star to the sun. And remember one light year is 9.5 TRILLION Earth years.Something else about Polaris is it is the end of the little dipper. That is the end of my paragraph!

Describe The Overall Scale, Structure And Age Of Our Universe And Facts On Earth.

Jupiter has a radius of 69,911 km, and the diameter of it is 142,984 km. The circumference of Jupiter is 439,264 km. The overall structure of Jupiter on the inside is liquid/metallic hydrogen while the outer layer is made out of molecular hydrogen. The universe is 14 billion years old. A few facts about earth are: Earth is 4.543 billion years old, and in 2013 the population was 7.125 billion people. Also did you know that 1.3 million earth's could fit into the sun?

Space Report

Did you know Saturn's rings are made of rocks and ice? Saturn's name comes from the Roman god of agriculture? Also the Greek version is Kronos. Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun. It takes 29 earth years for Saturn to fully orbit the sun. A day on Saturn is 10 hours and 39 minutes. Saturn is the second biggest planet in our solar system. The planets mass is 568.3E24 kg. (95.16 Earth mass). Its force of gravity on the surface is 10.44 m/s. Saturn orbits the sun every 29.4 years. The atmosphere is made mostly of hydrogen and it has a small percentage of of helium as well. The average temperature of this planet is-270 degrees fahrenhieit (-168 degrees celsius), while the temperature on Earth is  15 degrees celcius and 61 degrees farhenhieit.  It is a gas giant and its internal composition is hydrogen, helium, ice of ammonia, ice of methane and water ice. Saturn is a planet that has rings made of ice and rocks. The planet is very colorful itself but the colours are very dull. It has 62 moons and its biggest moon is titan, it is bigger than mercury and pluto. Titans atmosphere is made mostly of hydrogen just like Saturn. Saturn's rings were discovered in 1655 by Galileo Galilei. If a human would ever land on Saturn they would freeze  while sinking and choking and being crushed. The day Saturday was named after this planet. Another cool fact is if there was enough water to fit Saturn it would float because it is made of helium and hydrogen. Also Earth can  fit across Saturn NINE times! That's nine earths! Thank you for reading my space report, I hope you learned something new!

1. What is gravity?
Gravity makes planets, moons and all objects in  space. Gravity is the force that keeps us on the earth and makes us not fly away. For example if there was no gravity we would be floating right now.

2. What is the position, motion and components of our solar system?
The sun is the middle of our solar system. The sun has a strong gravitation pull so all planets orbit around it. That includes dwarf planets like Pluto, astroids and big planets like Venus. Each day we travel around the sun 1,598,400 miles. The major components of our solar system are the planets. There are 2 types of planets: The gas giants which include Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The terrestrial planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars.

3. Interesting facts about space
Pluto is smaller than the U.S.A. Pluto was considered a planet until 2006 when scientists made a category 'dwarf planets' where Pluto is now.
Mars is named after the Roman god.

4.Compare the environment of Earth VS your planet

The fastest speed of wind on Saturn is about 1,500 km/h, while the fastest speed of wind ever on Earth was 408 km/h. Also the atmosphere on Saturn is made up of hydrogen and helium and, on the Earth it is made out of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 0.9% argon, 0.03% carbon dioxide and water vapor. Saturn has an average temperature of -178 Celsius, and Earth has an average temperature of 15 Celsius. If a human were to land on Saturn they would sink until the bottom and then get crushed like an egg. But when astronauts enter Earth's atmosphere they would live. Saturn is the 6th planet from the sun and Earth is the 3rd. Did you know Saturn is named after the Greek god Kronos and Earth is named simply after the ground
